March 2009 TCNews TC-22

We are back!

I apologize for the lapse in TCNews. The support staff for the Web site was under reorganization and we were unable to update the AHA information. But, we are back!

Hopefully everyone is enjoying the occasional spring-like days and gearing up for another great teaching year.

The AHA Instructor Workshop is scheduled for April 20, 2009 at Lake of the Ozarks Lodge of the Four Seasons. All AHA instructors are encouraged to attend. You can register to attend by going to the following Web site: Memsa.org.

ATTENTION ALL ACLS and PALS INSTRUCTORS:
There is some important information regarding ACLS and PALS classes that must be clarified. Please read the following note from AHA:

“All ACLS and PALS courses must have a pre-approved Course Director. Along with TC Faculty, Course Directors are mentors to the instructors who teach in their courses. The Course Director oversees the instructors and all aspects of the course, ensuring that the course adheres to the quality standards set by the American Heart Association. ACLS and PALS instructors are not permitted to conduct courses on their own, regardless of their experience level.”

If you are not an approved Course Director and are teaching ACLS or PALS courses independently, please contact me at the training center immediately.

PLEASE remember to turn in rosters for all Family and Friends training you complete!!!!! Even though no cards are issued, please let us know how many you train. AHA now requires an accounting for all numbers trained for each course, so please let me know about any and all training you complete! This will be our first of many new goals to improve the quality of our training center.

If you know of an instructor or provider who should be recognized for their AHA skills or work with AHA programs, please let the training center know! If you have a life saving story to share, let the training center know! We would like to share this information with everyone and recognize work and dedication to saving lives!

AND….Please remember to turn in ALL COURSE ROSTERS as soon as possible for any outstanding courses! The Training Center needs an accurate accounting of how many students were trained and received cards or certification.
